This was my final message given last Sunday, 9th Nov 2014, in church. I had read JC Ryle’s famous tract based on Acts 4.12, and I thought: “This is the clear gospel! This is how I must preach the gospel! Lord, help me preach this gospel, clearly, firmly, loudly, believing it with all my heart.”
Time was short. And I thought, “In those Victorian days, they really gave long messages. Nowadays they want short messages. They want to leave church as soon as possible! They don’t want to spend time in God’s house! But Lord, You must help me get this through!”
I told the brother in charge, “I’m going to give only half the message, because time is short.” But when I got up on the pulpit and started preaching, there was this anointing, things flowed so smoothly, and I thought, “I must get this message through, the full message! Even if I cross their time-limit!”
Oh, what a shame! The responsible brothers in charge of the assembly are more concerned about timings (and pleasing people!), than feeding the congregation with the word of God.
Friend, Peter declared boldly before the Jewish rulers who were persecuting him, “There is NO OTHER NAME by which men may be saved, except the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth!” Can you and I do that? Paul stood boldly before the Roman governors, Felix and Festus, declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ. Are we good witnesses? Or are we afraid?
There is no other name given by God to men for their salvation, except the name of Jesus Christ. No, not Confucius, not Buddha, not Mohammed, not Marx, not Mother Mary, no names of the saints, none whatsoever – no names of any so-called gods, be they gods of the Roman or Greek pantheon, or gods of the heathen, or gods of the Hindus or any other idol-worshippers!
There is only one God, one Lord, one Saviour of the whole world – and He is the Lord Jesus Christ. There are many roads to hell, but there is only one road to heaven. Jesus declared: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father, but by me!” John 14.6.
Read this: “No other foundation can man lay, than that which is laid (by God), and that foundation is Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor 3.11. If you try to build your life on the wrong foundation (anything outside of Christ!), you are doomed. One more verse from God’s Word: “He that has the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) has life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5.12. Life means eternal life, everlasting life, life that death cannot touch. It is abundant life, divine life, heavenly life, spiritual life, incorruptible life, resurrection life, victorious life – and it is found only in Jesus Christ.
Therefore I ask you: “Have you found Jesus Christ? Has He come into your life? Have you accepted Him as your Saviour? Have you received the gift of salvation? If not, go to Him immediately; get down on your knees. Put those three verses from the Bible before you. Tell God, ‘Yes, I believe. Help me, O God, to be saved. Have mercy on me!’” God will hear your prayer. He is faithful. He will save everyone who trusts in Jesus and comes with faith and humility to His feet.
[P.S. I exceeded the time-limit by 15 mins. But I wasn’t apologetic about it. I was glad that I could give the full message. Sadly, I accidentally deleted the message from my mobile phone as I was recording it. Pray that I will recover the recorded message! ~JK]
